The two most common types of ports are Category A and Category C, (often referred to as 'Cat A' and 'Cat C').

Category A

This type of port is for 'simple services'. These ports use an automated porting process between carriers and are faster than Cat C ports.

Category C

This type of port is for 'complex services'. These ports require manual management between carriers to facilitate the porting process and are slower than Cat A ports.
